Staffing Headache

Staffing has never been a problem for me in all my past career. However, over in this present company, I have got hard time filling up the various important vacant positions.

Reason?

In the past, I make all the decisions in hiring and I have free hand to decide how I want to do my recruitment and how I can keep cost low yet effective. Whereas, over in this present company, the HR department wants to have all the say in hiring yet is unable to fill up the vacancies. The higher management is aware of the problem but not doing anything about it. It's all politics! *sigh*

So now... I am waiting for 'natural death' to occure. :(

Office Politics

I dislike office politics, yet I am thrown into it though I am only 6 weeks into the job. Worse of all, many of them are so called 'Christians' who are on 'spiritual diet'... they don't go to church anymore for a long time.

Yesterday I spoke to one of my colleagues who has also stopped going to church for a long time. Her reason was that she was very disappointed with the people she knew in her previous churches.

Well, by not going to church one is not solving anything, but only add to the problem. Before one becomes a Christian, one tends to look at people who called themselves Christians. However, when a person has truly accept Christ and become a born-again Christian, one will learn to look at Jesus and not at people. For humans fail and disappoint us many times. But Jesus taught us to love one another and to have fellowship with each other.

So I hope and pray that I will not be sucked into the political mould of my company. I want to be true in the things I do.

One Month Old

I am one month old! :)

Not physically of course! I am one month old in my present company. Coincidentally I have just celebrated my birthday together with the rest of my colleagues whose birthdays also fall on the month of July. It's the first time the company has decided to do this event every month, starting this month. So I must be very lucky ya? We had food, cakes, and games for our celebration... not bad la. :)

But well, I am beginning to feel ermmm.... better don't say too much here. *shhhhhhhhh*

Tired

I have been working for about 12 hours a day for the last 3 weeks, since I joined the company. I worked every Sat, though I am suppose to have alternate Sat off. I had a headache this evening and decided to leave my office slightly earlier than before.

I still enjoy my work, except the office politics part of it. I am sandwiched in between 2 'opposition parties'. *sigh* I hope that as Christians, my colleagues would be more loving and caring towards each other and do things to the glory of God.

Back To Education

Oh, I went back to the education industry about 2.5 weeks ago.

It was a tough decision as I have already found my niche in my headhunting career, having built a large candidates data base and seeing the fruits of my labour coming soon. Well, I have to make a choice between the two careers... and my choice is clear. I felt God's peace as I accepted the new challenging post.

Though it's only 2.5 weeks into my current job, I felt as if I have already been in the organization for 2.5 years. I usually leave my office at between 8 and 9 p.m., working about 12 hours a day. There are many interesting things for me to do there... dealing with people, basically.

Well, by God's grace I hope that my season in this place would bear fruits too. I will commit my work to God, asking Him to make me a blessing to those I come into contact with.

Fun At My Job

I have gone into headhunting career recently and finding it very interesting and meaningful. I learnt a lot of things on the job, such as:
- what employers look for and their hidden 'agenda'
- how to write a CV that stands out
- how to plan career progression
- what to disclose and how much
- handling discouragements
- working with fellow headhunters
- time management
- industries' requirements and knowledge

Although I may not see the immediate result at the moment, but I know I am building my portfolio as a good hunter. I love what I am doing and has been spending lot's of time on it, talking to many different people and learning from them and also help them improve.
